Here is a list of some of the things that I want to do in 2013
- Meditate every weekday for at least 10 minutes
- Write in my journal every day
- Go through the steps in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
and the The Now Habit: A Strategic Program for Overcoming Procrastination and Enjoying Guilt-Free Play
(use my journal, affirmations, and the meditation as tools)
- Half my debt, which is currently about 10.000 usd
- Read 10 novels, including Anna Karenina, The Idiot (Penguin Classics) and Ulysses
- Run 5k in less than 28 minutes
- Learn to do headstand
- Spend a day alone in a museum
- Draw portraits of my children
- Do Random Acts of Kindness every week
- Continue to grow and learn to dream BIG
I still want to focus on my impeccable year that I outlined last May. However I also want to make sure that I focus on the basics.
In January I will:
- Make meditation part of my daily routine
- Write in my journal every day
- Read again about the 1st Habit in Covey's 7 habits and blog about it
- Write at least 1 blog post on the Now Habit
- Do Random Acts of Kindness 4x
And as January is health month I will also:
- Re-establish my exercise routine
- Do yoga and focus on Wide-Legged Forward Bend
- Find two ways to improve my diet (any ideas??)
- Define my health goals
cheers, D
I love this list. I especially love the idea of doing a random act of kindness each week. I've never heard of "The Now Habit" before. I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI love "spend a day alone in a museum." What a great way to spend some quality time with yourself! I might steal that one from you :) Sounds like you have some great goals for January. Good luck with them!
ReplyDeleteFor ways to improve your diet: I recently started a 28 day sugar cleanse. I'm a week into it now. I'm not restricting everything with sugar, just desserts. So no cookies, chocolate, cake, mints, candies, etc. In just one week I have noticed a huge decrease in my desire to snack. I'm also noticing the benefit in my skin. The number one pay-off is that I'm learning how to enjoy my meals without looking forward to dessert. It's certainly helping with mindfulness. Might be something you could try.
DeleteThank you Emily, and you are very welcome to "steal" it:)
Deleteand thank you for your comment Christine. I would love to try to go without sugar for 28 days. I tend to grab something sugary in the afternoon...pastry or a candy bar to go with my latte, so I was thinking that a good way to start would be to substitute that snack/meal with something healthier (less sugary). Now I just need to find a good substitute:)
And maybe the second way to improve my eating habits should be to eat more mindfully!
Oops. that wasn't supposed to be a reply. Sorry Emily.
